The Details...

This gilt metal brooch features a floral posy design. It is detailed with a gilt metal coil, carnelian glass navettes and clear rhinestone navettes. All of the stones are faceted and claw set. The brooch fastens using a 'C' catch and the fastening pin is fitted to the brooch with a tube hinge.

A Short History...

This brooch is the epitome of costume glamour. Not only is it evocative of the cocktail style popularised in the late 1940s and 1950s - evidently fake, but nontheless elegant - it represents the influence of nature upon mid-centrury jewellery. Indeed, couturiers, such as Dior and Balenciaga, were heavily influenced by floral motifs and it is no surprise that other jewellery manufacturers lwere producing pieces that echoed Parisian trends.

Wear it With...

Brooches are an exceptionally simple way to add instant vintage styling to any look and interest to plain materials. Pin this piece onto a hat, lapel, collar, cuff, scarf, sleeve, waistline or bag - wear alone or with a selection. The diamante in this piece means that it would work well pinned to a bridal gown or attached to the ribbon that ties a wedding bouquet together for an additional glamorous detail.
