The Details...

This ring features a central motif of two hearts together. It also features a floral design on its shank at either side of the hearts. The designs are detailed with marcasites and the ring is likely to have been made from silver, as it features stamps on the inside of the band. These are illegible, however, as they have been worn with time. The ring is a UK size O 1/2.

A Short History...

The use of marcasite in jewellery dates from the late 1700s. It is the mineral iron pyrites and, when faceted and polished, sparkles like diamonds. It was extrememly popular in jewellery design during the roaring Twenties and Deco Thirties, as an affordable alternative to the fashion for pieces encrusted in diamonds. However, its popularity has continued into the present day due to it being so wearable and versitile.

Wear it With...

The romantic detailing in this piece would make it the perfect accompaniment for a bridal gown.
