The Details...

This elegant handbag is constructed from brown leather. It features a top handle and is detailed with a silver tone metal and orange Bakelite turn-lock clasp. The bag has two large central compartments, two medium sized compartments, which fasten with metal kiss clasps, and a small pocket and purse. The bag is lined in cotton and leather.

A Short History...

This bag features the thermoset plastic Bakelite, used popularly in jewellery and accessories manufacture from the 1910s through to the 1940s. It has been proven to be Bakelite through testing. It is evocative of the post-depression era, when manufacture of luxury items, such as jewellery, could only really be achieved through the use of cheap, man-made materials.
