The Details...

This evening bag features a brass handle in a typically sinuous Art Nouveau design. The bag is constructed from black velvet embroidered with a feather-like design in gold tone thread. The bag fastens with a press stud and is lined with a cream silk. It features one central compartment and two small internal pockets. The bag measures 12cm x 17cm.

A Short History...

The accessories of the Art Nouveau period can be exemplified by an allusion to the natural world. With its organic shaped handle, this purse is particularly representative of this aesthetic phase, which began in the 1880s and started to wane in the 1900s/1910s. This bag is stamped D.R.G.M., which stands for Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchsmuster. The term describes patented jewellery and accessories manufactured in Germany from 1891 until the 1950s.

Wear it With...

This evening bag would be perfect paired with a black velvet tuxedo and gold silk neck tie.
