The Details...

This gilt metal bracelet features round, claw set, orange glass cabochons. The claws holding the stones in place are rounded to resemble petals. The bracelet fastens with a bolt ring. It is 19cm long.

A Short History...

Glass has been a prevelant feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. An easily accessible material that can be formed into any shape and dyed any colour. Glass was heavily used in 1930s pieces, such as this necklace, because it could be dyed in a vast array of colours to meet the need for affordable jewellery after the Great Depression. This bracelet is highly likely to have been created in Czechoslovakia due to the good quality and vibrant colour of the glass beads and the use of highly decorative metal findings.
