Good - Some spotting to the gilt metal and a tiny area of oxidisation on the side of one panel. This is only visible upon close inspection and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This bracelet is constructed from gilt metal. It features several panels hinged together, with gilt metal, arch-like, shapes attached to each panel. At the centre of each panel is s rectangular red plastic piece mounted with a gilt metal seahorse motif. The bracelet fastens with a box clasp and it is 17cm in length. The bracelet is very faintly stamped 'MADE IN FRANCE' on its reverse.

A Short History...

Fascinatingly, Jean Painlevé was not a costume jewellery creator, but a French avant garde filmmaker. He was widely celebrated for his films on marine life, particularly 'L'Hippocampe' (The Seahorse), which prompted the creation of a brand of jewellery and fabrics in 1936 inspired by his work. This bracelet is from this famous Painlevé collection of jewels.
