The Details...

This silver tone metal (possibly silver) brooch features a linear design detailed with silver tone metal balls and three round, clear rhinestone encrusted shamrocks. All of the stones are faceted and claw set. The brooch fastens using a 'C' catch and the pin is fitted to the brooch with a tube hinge. The brooch measures 4.25cm x 1cm.

A Short History...

This brooch represents the design aesthetics typical of the Arts and Crafts movement. It was born out of a concern for the effects of industrialisation in the late 19th century. The natural instead of the mechanical was alluded to in Arts and Crafts work and there was a great focus on beautiful objects being hand-made with skill.
