The Details...

This brooch, although unhallmarked, is extremely likely to be silver. It is features a geometric design detailed with small round, square cut and baguette cut paste stones and two triangular, sapphire coloured paste stones. The brooch fastens using a 'C' catch and the pin is fitted to the brooch with a round hinge. The brooch measures 3cm x 1.25cm.

A Short History...

During the 1920s and early 1930s, jewellery was influenced by the dawn of a new era. There was a push for all things modern after the shock of the First World War - people wanted to be cleansed of the old and celebrate the new. In the world of design a pure, hard-edged style was craved. This resulted in linear, geometric and symmetrical jewellery designs, as can be seen in this beautiful brooch. Although it bears no makers marks, this brooch bears a striking similarity to pieces produced by the prestigious German silver jewellery makers, Knoll and Pregizer.
