Featuring a pretty Deco design, this brooch dates from the 1920s and was created in France.

Good - Quite a bit of wear to the silver tone metal catch. This is not visible when worn and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This black celluloid brooch is features a silver painted floral design. It is detailed with tiny silver tone studs and small purple rhinestones. It fastens using a 'C' catch and the pin attaches to the brooch with a round hinge fitting. The brooch measures 5cm x 3.5cm. 

A Short History...

Celluloid was a highly popular material in jewellery manufacture during the 1930s. Newly pioneered injection molding processes, meant that cellulose could be used to produce many identical pieces at the same time. This resulted in the cost per item of celluloid pieces being very low and the material could therefore cater for post-Depression demands for affordable jewellery.
