The Details...

This dress clip, although unhallmarked, is most likely constructed from silver. It features a geometric design and is detailed with brilliant cut and baguette cut colourless and emerald green paste stones. The dress clip works like a bulldog clip and opens and closes when pressure is applied to the top with a thumb and forefinger. The dress clip measures 3cm x 2cm. The styling and construction of this dress clip resembles German design of the Art Deco period and so this piece was most likely constructed in Germany.

A Short History...

During the 1920s and early 1930s, jewellery was influenced by the dawn of a new era. There was a push for all things modern after the shock of the First World War - people wanted to be cleansed of the old and celebrate the new. In the world of design a pure, hard-edged style was craved. This resulted in linear, geometric jewellery designs. This style was often combined with feminine motifs to cater for the Flapper girls. Such a combination of ideas can be seen in this beautiful dress clip.

Wear it With...

This dress clip is perfect for evening wear or a special occasion. It would look beautiful with a little black dress, but equally chic with a bridal gown. Alternatively, wear it in the day - pinned to the top of a buttoned up crisp white shirt.
