The Details...

This silver d√©colletage dress clip has two clips on its reverse, as it is intended to be attached to a round neckline. It is hinged at its centre so that the 'V' shape it makes can be deep or shallow. It is hand set with small, round, tinted pastes. It was very fashionable in the 1920s for paste stones to sometimes be tinted to simulate yellow diamonds. At the hinged centre of the dress clip there is a small star design. At its longest length the clip measures 10cm and at its deepest, the clip measures 5cm. This piece was most likely constructed in Germany. It is stamped with '935' and a patent number.

A Short History...

During the 1920s and early 1930s, jewellery was influenced by the dawn of a new era. There was a push for all things modern after the shock of the First World War - people wanted to be cleansed of the old and celebrate the new. In the world of design a pure, hard-edged style was craved. This resulted in linear, geometric and symmetrical jewellery designs, as can be seen in this beautiful dress clip.

Wear it With...

This dress clip is perfect for evening wear or a special occasion. It would look beautiful with a little black dress, but equally chic with a bridal gown. Alternatively, wear it in the day - pinned to the top of a buttoned up crisp white shirt.
