1930s French Crystal and Faux Pearl Vintage Flower Dress Clips

Bright and bold, these dress clips are typical examples of high end French Art Deco costume jewellery.

Condition Report:

Very Good - Some rubbing to the surface of a couple of faux pearls and aging to the gilt metal. This is consistent with age and use, but does not detract from the overall appeal of these clips.

The Details...

These gold tone metal dress clips are designed to resemble flowers. They each feature a large, claw set, central, citrine coloured crystal surrounded by teardrop-shaped faux pearls. These pearls sit loosly withing gilt metal cups, so that they are 'En Tremblant' meaning that they mve with the wearer. The reverse of each dress clip is stamped 'MADE IN FRANCE'. Each clip measures 5cm in diameter.

A Short History...

The popularity of the use of faux pearls within costume jewellery is undeniable. Between the 1920s and 1960s, they were enjoying a heyday, as they were acceptable for daywear. Famous costume jewellery brands, such as Chanel and Miriam Haskell, used faux pearls prolifically and many unsigned pieces were made using them to emulate their high end designs.
