The Details...

This brooch is constructed from a copper panel foiled and enamelled with a silver and purple design. The panel is also detailed with purple and clear glass chips and cabochons. The panel is also claw set within a gilded metal frame. The brooch fastens with a trombone clasp and the fastening pin is attached to the brooch with a round hinge. The brooch measures 3.5cm x 2.75cm. The brooch is stamped on its reverse with 'D&C LIMOGES'. 

A Short History...

Enamel ware has been produced in Limoges since the 12th Century. During the 1950s enamel jewellery in modernist styles was a popular creation in Limoges, with prominent artists and designers of the time making unique pieces in bold colour ways accented with textured glass details.
