Very Good - A tiny element of rubbing to the tip of the brooch. This is only apparent upon very close inspection and does not detract from the appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This brooch is constructed from gold plated metal. It features a sinuous design detailed with a floral pattern enamelled in dark blue and turquoise. It is set with small, round, colourless rhinestones and a single, oval shaped, turquoise glass cabochon. The brooch fastens with a traditional safety catch and the fastening pin attaches to the brooch with a round hinge. The brooch measures 6.5cm x 3cm. Although this brooch is unsigned, it is certainly a creation by Jomaz, as other signed examples of this piece have been found in varying colour ways. Examples of his brooch have also been found as part of a set, where the earrings are signed 'Jomaz', but the brooch is not.

A Short History...

This brooch is an excellent example of the 1960s trend for rich and bold colours. Indeed, women during the decade demanded striking and eye-catching hue combinations. Brightly coloured enamels were a popular choice amongst costume jewellers for blocking colour and Jomaz produced many pieces, such as this brooch, that incorporated the material.
