Theodor Fahrner 1930s Silver Gilt Vintage Patterned Flower Brooch

This brooch is a beautiful example of the 1930s silver work of the German Theodor Fahrner company. 

Condition Report:

Very Good - Some darkening to the silver reverse of the brooch. This is consistent with age and use and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece. It is not visible when worn.

The Details...

This flower brooch is created from silver gilt. Some petals of the flower are detailed with swirling filigree patterns, whilst others are detailed with floral patterns created from raised dots. The brooch fastens using a traditional safety catch and the fastening pin is fitted to the reverse of the brooch with a round hinge. It is signed. The back of the brooch features 'TF 925' stamped into a silver panel on the reverse and also the phrase 'ORIGINAL FAHRNER'. The brooch measures 3cm in diameter. A Short History...

This brooch is part of a collection of filigree jewellery, which the Theodor Fahrner company produced post 1932. The filigree designs were produced when the silver was soldered with corded wire. Fahrner jewellery of this type features prominently in the book 'Theodor Fahrner Jewellery - Between Avant Garde and Tradition' .
