The Details...
These gold plated metal earrings feature a floral design hand-set with diamond cut, ruby red rhinestones and small, round colourless rhinestones. They are clip on. The earrings are signed - the reverse of each clip is stamped 'TRIFARI' with a crown symbol above the 'T' and 'DESIGN PAT. PEND'. The earrings measure 2 cm in diameter.
A Short History...
Glamorous and affordable rhinestone jewellery was still prevalent in the 1950s, even though the post-war necessity for it had obviously waned. Featuring stones in outlandish sizes and showy colour ways, this form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
