The Details...

These earrings are sterling silver (ther are stamped 'SIL' on their reverse). They are set with round, clear pastes. Suspended from the pastes are green pressed glass Egyptianesque motifs - they resemble stylised lotus flowers. The earrings measure 5.75cm x 1.25cm.

A Short History...

In 1922, Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun and, thereby, ignited a Western fascination with Ancient Egypt which permeated the Arts. Jewellery designers created heavily stylised profiles of people and hieroglyphs taken from tomb walls and incorporated them into their work. Reviving Egyptian motifs was a real 1920s celebration of adventure and breaking down cultural barriers.

Wear it With...

These earrings are perfect for evening wear or a special occasion. They would look beautiful with a little black dress, but equally chic with a bridal gown.
