A Short History...

Sappharine stones perhaps date from the 1950s and were created in Germany to replicate saphiret stones. Saphiret glass was made in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, from the mid-19th century. It was created by mixing melted gold into sapphire-colored glass. However, it's production stopped not long after the dawn of the 20th century because the gold used in its manufacture had increased in price. German stone makers therefore opted to create a more affordable alternative and the Sappharine was born.
