The Details...

These gilt metal earrings are a circular shape. They are detailed in their entirety with large, emerald cut and small, round clear rhinestones. These stones are hand-wired using brass wire to a gilt metal framework. All of the stones are faceted and claw set. To ensure no gaps and complete continuity in the design tiny, clear glass rondelle beads are included around the edges of the design. The earrings are signed, featuring the Coppola e Toppo company's signature star design in the reverse of each clip and stamped on the reverse of both earrings with 'MADE IN ITALY BY Coppola e Toppo. They measure 3.5cm in diameter.

A Short History...

Coppola e Toppo pieces are some of the most sought after by collectors of vintage costume jewellery. It is certainly easy to see why - the craftsmanship, eye for detail and design technique empolyed in production of their jewellery is outstanding. Sister and brother, Lyda Toppo and Bruno Coppola founded the business in 1946. Their success was sealed when design houses Dior, Schiaparelli and Balenciaga commissioned the pair to produce pieces for them. Also, their home town of Milan was increasing its status as a fashion capital and this saw Coppola e Toppo rise to revered heights in fashion circles.
