The Details...

These drop earrings are constructed from silver - they are hallmarked on their reverse, although the details of this mark have been worn over time and are difficult to decipher. They feature a floral design set with small, round, colourless pastes. The earrings are also detailed with a coral bead and cabochon. The earrings attach to the ears with hooks, which are most likely gold plated. The earrings measure 4.5cm x 1.75cm.

A Short History...

The jewellery of the Art Nouveau era can be exemplified by an allusion to romantic motifs and the natural world. With their pretty floral design and use of coral, these earrings are particularly representative of this aesthetic phase, which began in the 1880s and started to wane in the 1900s/1910s.
