The Details...

These matte gold tone earrings feature an oval shape with an oak leaf design at its centre. Suspended from this is a large, oval shaped, hoop. They measure 3cm x 6.5cm. The earrings are signed - the reverse of each earring features a panel stamped with 'GIVENCHY' and a copyright symbol. The back of each clip is also stamped 'GIVENCHY PARIS NEW YORK' and a copyright symbol. To learn more about Givenchy jewellery, visit our 'Designers' section.

A Short History...

1980s style can be effectively explained by the term 'power dressing'. Womenswear was tailored to challenge notions of who was 'boss' and costume jewellery was created to reflect fashion that showed control. Pieces, such as these earrings, were bold and flashy. Adornment in the eighties was a vocabulary for saying 'I'm in charge'.
