A Short History...

From the 1950s, the Trifari company produced jewellery in brushed metals and utilised faux pearls as a means of meeting a demand for costume jewellery that could be worn in the day time. Other manufacturers, such as Jewelcraft and Coro, followed suit. The pieces were a great contrast to the rhinestone encrusted cocktail jewellery intended for wear after the sun had set. Jewellery for daywear sold in huge numbers. Pared down, no-flash designs could be worn by working women - imagine a typing pool adorned in gold tone - and housewives alike - think of Betty Draper serving Don his steak in her faux pearls.

Wear it With...

Embrace the pioneering asthetic of costume jewellery for day time and pair these earrings with a white t-shirt, black blazer, grey skinny jeans and a pair of glow white Converse. These earrings are apt for the most special of occasions too - their pearls make them ideal for pairing with a bridal gown.
