The Details...

These rhodium plated earrings feature a flower bouquet design detailed with small, round ruby red rhinestones and ruby red, oval shaped, glass cabochons. The earrings are also detailed with round and baguette cut, colourless rhinestones. The earrings measure 4cm x 2.5cm. They are stamped with 'BOUCHER',  '7001' and a copyright symbol on the reverse of each earring. Each clip also features a patent mark and number. 

A Short History...

These earrings are emblematic of the 'Cocktail Style' of costume jewellery being produced and worn during the 1950s and 1960s. There was a craze for costume jewellery that was ostentatious and glitzy; featuring stones in outlandish sizes and showy colourways. This form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
