The Details...

This necklace features dark and light amber coloured glass beads in bicone, round and rondelle shapes, some of which are molded with a cross-hatch pattern. The necklace features an amber coloured glass pendant shaped like an arrow-head. On its reverse, the pendant is molded with a chevron pattern. On its front, it features a raised and faceted clear glass design. The necklace fastens with a barrel clasp. It measures 46cm in length and the pendant measures 2.5cm x 3.5cm.  

A Short History...

Glass has been a prevelant feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. An easily accessible material that can be formed into any shape and dyed any colour. Glass was heavily used in 1920s and 1930s pieces, such as this necklace, because it could be dyed in a vast array of colours to meet the need for affordable jewellery after the Great Depression.
