The Details...

This necklace features triangular, multi-faceted citrine glass panels along its length. The centre of the necklace is detailed with multi-faceted, oval shaped, citrine glass drops. All of the glass panels are bezel set and they are set in and linked together with gilded metal. The necklace fastens with a bolt ring and measures 36cm in length.

A Short History...

Glass has been a prevalent feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. An easily accessible material that can be formed into any shape. It was heavily used in 1920s and 1930s pieces, such as this necklace, because it could meet the need for affordable jewellery after the World War One and the Great Depression. It could also be pressed into the evocative geometric shapes we associate with Art Deco design.
