1920s Art Deco Green Celluloid and Rhinestone Vintage French Pendant

Featuring a typical Art Deco design, this rare pendant dates from the 1920s and was made in France.

Condition Report:

Very Good - Some rubbing to the metal reverse. This is consistent with age and use and is not visible when worn. It does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This large pendant is constructed from silver tone metal and is enrusted in its entirity with round and baguette cut, clear paste stones. Featuring a typically geometric Art Deco design, it is detailed at its centre with a square of raised, pale green celluloid. The pendant measures 9cm x 4cm. The reverse of the pendant is stamped 'MADE IN FRANCE'. This piece will be provided with an 1m length of black black silk cord, so that it can be worn as a choker or necklace. 

A Short History...

Celluloid was a highly popular material in jewellery manufacture during the 1920s. Newly pioneered injection molding processes, meant that cellulose could be used to produce many identical pieces at the same time. This resulted in the cost per item of celluloid pieces being very low and the material could therefore cater for post-Depression demands for affordable jewellery.
