This elegant necklace features shimmering crystals and dates from the 1920s.

Condition Report:

Very Good - The tiniest nibble to the edge of the pendant and on the corners of a couple of the square cut crystals. This is only apparent to touch on very close inspection. It does not detract from the appeal and quality of this necklace.

The Details...

This necklace features square cut and round, multi-faceted clear crystals along its length. The crystals are claw set and they are set in and linked together with what is most certainly Sterling Silver. Suspended from a necklace with a with a fancy bail is a large, teardrop shaped clear crystal pendant. The necklace measures 100cm in length. The drop of the pendant is 7cm. The large crystal measures 4cm x 2.5cm.

A Short History...

Glass and crystal have been a prevelant feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. Easily accessible materials that can be formed into any shape. They were heavily used in 1920s and 1930s pieces, such as this necklace, because they could meet the need for affordable jewellery after the World War One and the Great Depression. They could also be pressed into the evocative geometric shapes we associate with Art Deco design.
