1930s Czechoslovakian Blue Glass and Gilt Metal Tassel Necklace

The Details...

This necklace features round, tube and barrel shaped pale blue glass beads. These beads are all linked together with gilt metal. The largest beads feature gilt metal filigree cappings. Suspended from the necklace is a gilt metal filigree floral design, semi-circular panel and hanging from this are tassels of blue glass beads. The necklace fastens with a bolt ring and measures 43cm in length. The pendant is 6cm x 4cm. The fastening ring of the necklace is stamped 'CZECHOSLOVAKIA'. 

A Short History...

Glass has been a prevelant feature of costume pieces since the invention of fashion jewellery. It's extrememly suitable for meeting the ever challenging and changing demands of costume jewellery designers because it's an easily accessible material that can be formed into any shape and dyed any colour. This necklace was created in Czechoslovakia - the high quality of the glass and the necklace's design are typical of Czech jewellery.
