The Details...

This necklace is constructed from celluloid. It features a brown open-link chain. Suspended from the centre of the chain are 9 orange flowers detailed with gilded metal caps and round, black glass beads. The necklace fastens with a hook and eye and measures 37cm in length.

A Short History...

Celluloid was a highly popular material in jewellery manufacture during the 1920s and 1930s. Newly pioneered injection molding processes, meant that cellulose could be used to produce many identical pieces at the same time. This resulted in the cost per item of celluloid pieces being very low and the material could therefore cater for post-Depression demands for affordable jewellery.

Wear it With...

This necklace would look sensational with a midi length tea dress and leather jacket.
