    The Details...

This necklace is constructed from German Alpaca silver. It is detailed with green and Aurora Borealis round rhinestones of graduating size. All of the stones are multi-faceted and claw set. The necklace fastens with a 'hook and tail' and is therefore adjustable in length. The maximum length of the necklace is 42cm. The necklace is stamped 'MADE IN GERMANY' on the reverse of 'tail' of the necklace.

    A Short History...

Although unsigned, this necklace was clearly designed and produced in Germany for Christian Dior by Henkel and Grossé. This can be determined by a number of factors. Firstly, the piece is stamped 'MADE IN GERMANY'. Secondly, the piece bears all the hallmarks of quality manufacture - it features good attention to detail and is well constructed. Additionally, high quality Aurora Borealis rhinestones (as can be seen in the necklace) were extensively used by Dior jewellery manufacturers. Finally, a virtually identical necklace (just with extra beaded tassels) is featured in the book 'Grossé and Bijoux Christian Dior' by Vivienne Becker - please find an image of this piece attached with our necklace a top of it for comparison.

    Wear it With...

A classic piece, this necklace works well with any form of style - it would look exceptional with a little black dress, but also works well with a denim shirt.

The jewellery within the Gemma Redmond Vintage collection has survived to this day because it has been well cared for throughout its lifetime. It is important to continue to care for the jewellery that you buy from us to ensure its continued preservation. Here are some suggestions:

    - Be sure to store your jewellery within the boxes that we provide to ensure that it is protected. This is especially important when travelling with your pieces.

    - Try not to get perfume or hairspray on your items. These liquids can damage the materials that our jewellery is made from.

    - Try not to drop your jewellery or catch your jewellery against hard surfaces. If this happens over time, the findings and fixings can loosen and wear.

    - Try not to get your jewellery wet. Some costume jewellery manufacturers utilised water soluble glue in the making of their pieces. Getting your jewellery wet could cause rhinestones and other details to fall away over time.

    - If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
