The Details...

This collar is constructed from gold plated metal. It features a snake chain and is detailed at its centre with a curved panel of green acrylic - the colour of which closely resembles Jade. This panel is set with colourless, baguette cut rhinestones. The necklace fastens with a fold-over clasp and measures approximately 35cm in length. The necklace is signed. The reverse of the acrylic panel features an oval shaped cartouche stamped with 'GIVENCHY PARIS NEW YORK' and a copyright symbol.

A Short History...

In the 1970s, jewellery that would shimmer under a disco ball was essential. This necklace would have been the perfect accompaniment to the block coloured maxi dress and glitter platforms that could have been worn at the time of its manufacture. As it's a Givenchy piece one could easily imagine this necklace having been worn on the dancefloor at Studio 54. It is highly remeniscent of an era of decadant disco.
