The Details...

This gold plated necklace features several panels detailed with a wheatsheaf and ears of wheat inspired design. The panels are all hinged together to form a circular collar-style necklace. The necklace fastens with a box clasp. The necklace is signed - 'GIVENCHY PARIS NEW YORK' is stamped onto the reverse of the necklace, alongside the brand's logo. The necklace measures 45cm in length. The internal diameter of the necklace is 12cm. 

A Short History...

This necklace is emblematic of the of the craze for gold tone pieces that perpetuated throughout the Eighties. Givenchy's creations sprung forth from the pages of Vogue on the likes of Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. It is easy to imagine such supermodels wearing this piece, as they stare powerfully from a double-page spread wearing sharp shouldered suits.
