Kollmar and Jourdan c.1900 Gold Plate and Ruby Paste Bow Design Antique Locket

This pretty locket dates from c.1900. It was created in Pforzheim, Germany, by Kollmar and Jourdan. 

Condition Report:

Very Good - A scratch to the plating on the reverse of the locket. This is not visible when worn and does not detract from the appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This hinged, oval locket is constructed from gold plated metal. It's detailed with a swag and bow design and set with small, round, ruby paste stones. The locket measures 3.5cm x 2.5cm. It is signed - the inside of the locket is stamped 'KJ' with an arrow through the centre. This is the Kollmar and Jourdan mark. 

A Short History...

Kollmar and Jourdan were founded in 1885 by Emil Kollmar and Wilhelm Jourdan. They produced gilt chains and gold plated jewellery initially with just 3 members of staff. By 1925, they employed a workforce of over 1800.
