The Details...

This oval shaped pendant is constructed from multi-faceted natural smoky quartz. The pendant is set with a gold plated bee motif, which features an etched body detailed with bezel set round and heart-shaped Garnets. The bail of the locket is gold plated too and also detailed with a small panel of smoky quartz. The pendant measures 6cm x 3.5cm. The main body of the pendant is approximately 1.5cm deep.

A Short History...

As was common in jewellery design during the Victorian era, this pendant possesses many symbolic elements. Bee motifs were set on to jewels because the creatures were seen to represent hard work and devotion. The body of the bee on this pendant is detailed with a heart design, which was used in the Victorian era to symbolise love, as much as it is today. The use of smoky quartz in this piece also has a purpose, as it is believed to bring emotional calm because it is thought to transform negative energies into positive ones.
