The Details...
This gold tone metal ring features a central raised design set with small, round, clear rhinestones and multi-coloured, teardrop shaped glass cabochons. The ring is signed. The reverse of the central design features a panel stamped 'Vendôme'. The ring is adjustable in size using Vendôme's patented adjustable shank, which can be pulled out and pushed in to fit the wearer.
A Short History...
Glamourous and affordable rhinestone jewellery was still prevelant in the 1960s, even though the post-war necessity for it had obviously waned. Featuring stones in outlandish sizes and showy colourways, this form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
