1950s French Couture Turquoise Glass and Grey Rhinestone Vintage Necklace and Earrings Set

This beautifully designed and quality constructed 1950s jewellery set was manufactured in France and was most likely made by Francis Winter for a couture house.

Condition Report:

Very Good - A little darkening in colour to a couple of rhinestones in the necklace. This is only obvious on very close inspection and does not detract from the appeal of the set.

A Short History...

Featuring high quality stones, well manufactured settings and elegant design details, this jewellery set has the hallmarks of a piece created for couturiers during the post-war era. It appears to perhaps be the work of designer Francis Winter, who made pieces for Dior, Balenciaga and Chanel amongst others. His necklaces were particularly influenced by the styles of the Victorian and Edwardian eras and often had opulent central designs that cascaded down the neckline. Winter was also devoted to using unusual Austrian rhinestones in his work. Furthermore, the fancy claw settings used on some of the rhinestones in this set were used in pieces verified to have been made by both Francis Winter and the British designer, Mitchel Maer, in their work for Christian Dior.
