The Details...

This gold tone metal jewellery set features a rope chain necklace detailed with a large, open-work design pendant. The pendant is dotted with oval blue and purple glass cabochons and has a lion motif at its centre, which is detailed with turquoise enamel and a faux pearl cabochon. The necklace fastens with a bolt ring and is 68cm in length. The pendant measures 9cm x 7cm. The earrings feature the same lion motif, whic is at the centre of the pendant. They measure 2.75cm x 2.75cm. All pieces are signed. 'JOMAZ' with a copyright symbol is stamped onto their reverse. A Short History...

Glamourous and affordable rhinestone and glass cabochon jewellery was still prevelant in the 1960s, even though the post-war necessity for it had obviously waned. Featuring stones incorporated into bold designs, this form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
