The Details...

This parure features a silver tone necklace and earrings. Each piece is detailed with faceted and claw-set, teardrop and round diamantes.

The necklace is 40cm in length - what is known as a 'Princess' style. It fastens with a 'hook and tail' mechanism and also has a saftey chain for added security, allowing you to feel confident about wearing this collectable piece. The necklace is a 'Lavaliere' style, which features smaller stones, culminating in a larger design that hangs from the front and centre. The necklace is signed with an oval shaped plate that reads 'Mitchel Maer' in script lettering.

The earrings are in a chandelier style and feature a 'screw-back' mechanism.

A Short History...

This parure was created by the legendary costume jewellery designer, Mitchel Maer. According to the March 1955 issue of Australian newspaper 'The Age', Maer was based in Wales. So excellently crafted were his designs, that he was selected by Christian Dior to design jewellery for his fashion house between 1952 and 1956. This parure was created before he began designing for Dior, which is why it can be described as early 1950s. Perhaps it was this very set which persuaded Mr Dior to request that Maer design his jewels?

Wear it With...

The delicate diamante in this parure makes it ideal for bridal wear. Pay tribute to the decade in which it was made, by pairing it with a fifties, lace cocktail length dress with a full underskirt.
