This pretty and evocative clutch bag was created in France by the famed couture fan and handbag makers J. Duvelleroy in the 1920s.

Condition Report:

Very Good - There is some fading and a couple of tiny tears to the bag's lining. This is consistent with age and use and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece.

The Details...

This elegant clutch bag is constructed from silk printed in shades of pink, lilac, silver and grey with East Asian landscapes and scenes of daily life. The frame is gilt metal and etched with floral designs.  The bag fastens with a fold over clasp and has a loop on the reverse for carrying it. It is lined with a pale pink coloured silk. The bag has one large central compartment and two elasticated small inner pockets, inside one is a small mirror in a pale pink silk case that matches the bag's lining. The bag features a stamped gold label that reads: 'J. DUVELLEROY. MADE IN FRANCE.' Inside the bag there is also a card that reads 'Champagne Party. Wassand Hall. Friday 11th July.' It's possible that this dates from the era in which the bag was made. The bag measures 15cm x 18cm.
