The Details...

This set consists of a necklace and clip on earrings. Both the earrings and necklace feature a floral motif designed using small, round faux pearls and a round, bronze and pale blue swirled glass cabochon. The necklace is detailed with medium and large round faux pearls and twisted bronze and pale blue glass beads. The necklace features two strands at its centre. The pieces are constructed from a gold and silver tone base metal with an antique finish. The necklace is adjustable in length, fastening using a hook and eye mechanism with a long and short link chain. The earrings are signed. 'Schiaparelli' is stamped in script form onto the reverse of each clip. The necklace can measure up to 44cm in length and the earrings are 2.75cm in diameter.

A Short History...

Elsa Sciaparelli was doubtlessly an advocate of surrealism. However, many of her pieces were also incredibly wearable. This parure, with its popular floral motifs, would be a useful addtion to any wardrobe. She appreciated that women needed an alternative to her bold rhinestone creations. It was particularly in the 1950s when she turned to using flora and fauna as her inspiration, creating abstractions like the pineapple parure and literal pieces, like this flower parure.

Wear it With...

This parure would add exceptional interest and detailing to any look. The beauty of a parure is that the pieces can be worn individually for a subtle effect or together for a maximum impact. Wear the necklace alone with a plain white silk top for minimal chic, wear the earrings alone with an A-line denimn midi dress or wear all of the pieces together with a black strapless jumpsuit.
