The Details...
These gold tone metal earrings feature clusters of turquoise, faceted, teardrop shaped beads. At the centre of these beads are round, gilded metal beads studded with small, round, colourless rhinestones. The earrings are clip on and measure 4cm x 4cm.
A Short History...
Glamorous and affordable rhinestone and glass cabochon jewellery was still prevalent in the 1950s, even though the post-war necessity for it had obviously waned. Featuring stones incorporated into bold designs, this form of jewellery was referred to as 'cocktail' because it was commonly worn to a way of gathering together that was becoming increasingly popular - the cocktail party.
