The Details...
This brooch features a bee created from carved horn. The brooch is very fine indeed - the carving of the veins in the bee's wings is particularly well detailed. The brooch fastens using a 'C' catch and the pin is attached to the brooch with a tube hinge. This brooch measures 10cm x 2cm.
A Short History...
The jewellery of the Art Nouveau movement took its inspiration from the natural world and organic forms - the bee was a particularly popular motif and can be seen in this piece. Horn was utilised extensively in French jewellery creation during the early 1900s and was carved to fashion pendants, brooches and hair accessories. This brooch is most likely French in origin too.

- If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.
