The Details...
These earrings are constructed from gilded metal. They each feature 3 square cut, multi-faceted, colourless, bezel set crystals. They are also each detailed with a large baguette cut, faceted, topaz coloured glass panel, which is claw set. The earrings attach to the ear with a screw-back mechanism. The earrings measure 5cm x 1cm.

A Short History...
Glass has been a prevalent feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. An easily accessible material that can be formed into any shape. It was heavily used in 1920s and 1930s pieces, such as these earrings, because it could meet the need for affordable jewellery after the World War One and the Great Depression. It could also be pressed into the evocative geometric shapes we associate with Art Deco design.
