The Details...
This necklace features square cut, faceted, crystals and black glass stones along its length, culminating in a five stone pendant. The crystals and glass stones are claw set and they are set in and linked together with what is most likely Platinon. However, the necklace is un-marked. The necklace fastens with a bolt ring and measures 42cm in length.

A Short History...
Glass and crystal have been a prevalent feature of costume pieces since the invention of jewellery. Easily accessible materials that can be formed into any shape. They were heavily used in 1920s and 1930s pieces, such as this necklace, because they could meet the need for affordable jewellery after the World War One and the Great Depression. They could also be pressed into the evocative geometric shapes we associate with Art Deco design.

- Try not to get your jewellery wet. Some costume jewellery manufacturers utilised water soluble glue in the making of their pieces. Getting your jewellery wet could cause rhinestones and other details to fall away over time.
- If you wish to clean your jewellery, use a soft polishing cloth or a soft brush.

Good - There is some loss of coating to some of the faux pearls. In some places, this has resulted in a darkening to the surface of the pearls. This does not detract from the rarity and wearability of the piece, especially as the darkening makes the pearls look like grey or black pearls rather than obviously flawed.
